The hui at Auckland University’s Waipapa marae has the backing of veterans like Hone Harawira, Annette Sykes, Mereana Pitman, Ken Mair and Tame Iti.
The Ngāpuhi MP says it reminds him of a hui called by another giant of the activist movement.
“In the mid-90s Eva Rickard called a similar hui and all of those people were there… Ken, Annette, Hone, Mereana, everybody else was there. So definitely interested to go along and have a whakarongo, have my listening ears on to see what we can do to tautoko the kaupapa,”Mr Tuiono says.
He says the Green support base will be part of any mobilisation against the coalition Government’s anti-Maori policies.
