Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey has launched a $10 million contestable fund for ideas to tackle mental health and addiction.
He says the fund, which opens at the end of July, will support new and innovative initiatives focussed on increasing access to better mental health support.
He believes the answers to the issues in mental health are already in the sector but need the opportunity to be backed.
The fund will be open to all NGOs and community mental health and addiction providers, including iwi-based and other kaupapa Māori providers.
It’s looking for ideas that will increase access to support, develop workforce capacity, use technology to drive productivity, have a positive social return on investment, reach target population groups and protect public specialist mental health and addiction services by reducing demand.
Grants will be on a dollar-for-dollar matched funding basis
