Aucklanders wanting to catch a glimpse of Matariki over the next two days could be in luck.
NIWA meteorologists Chris Brandolino the main obstacles to seeing the stars in the pre-dawn sky are cloud cover and light pollution.
Much of the North Island should be clear on Friday morning when hautapu events are planned around the motu.
“Unless you are in Gisborne, Tairawhiti or Hawke’s Bay, much of the North Island on Friday mornng should find favourable conditions. Perhaps not looking as ideal for the South Island on Friday morning,” he says.
The next rain forecast for Auckland isn’t until Monday afternoon.
