Netball New Zealand celebrated its 100th birthday yesterday and newly re-appointed Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua says the sport is in great heart.
She says being among legends of the game at the event yesterday was a humbling reminder of role guiding the national team.
There is considerable work being done to secure the game’s future through broadcasting rights, and a new generation of players is coming through.
“Teally exciting, really enthusiastic, they’ve got that look in their eye they’re killing someone off to try to get to the ball so marrying that up with some of our experienced players but definitely looking forward to 2026 which is the Commonwealth Games,” she says.
Dame Noeline says building a team for the 2027 World Cup is also on her radar.
