Tāmaki Makarau holds its regional competition for Te Matatini this weekend at Spark Arena.

While there are 24 kapa performing, just nine are competing for the region’s six spots at Te Matitini 2025 in Ngāmotu-New Plymouth.One of them is new west Auckland-based kapa Te Poho o Hinekahukura, tutored by Te Matatini veterans Jeff Ruha and Nettie Norman.
