Peters sides with “dinosaur” on tikanga lessons
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is backing a bid by a senior lawyer to stop tikanga being a compulsory subject in the country’s law schools.
Kings Counsel Gary Judd has filed a complaint to parliament’s Regulations Review Committee describing tikanga as cultural indoctrination and not a proper subject for law students.
His move was criticised by AUT law school dean Kylee Quince.

He says with both National and ACT coming out against the policy he’s confident tikanga lessons will be off next year.
