Labour MP Willie Jackson says Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters is showing his age as he becomes more confused and impatient.
During a state of the nation speech on Sunday, the New Zealand First leader equated co-governance with the racial theories of Nazi Germany – which he now claims was a reference to Māori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi’s comments about Māori having ‘superior genetics’.
Mr Jackson says he acknowledges Mr Peters’ political skills, but it wasn’t one of his better days.
“He’s getting more and more confusing. he’s confusing himself and losing his patience and I say quite respectfully age is getting to him. He’s about 80 years of age but unlike Dame Kiri Te Kanawa who’s gettig better with age, he’s going the other way,” Mr Jackson says.
