Wellington City Council’s Pūroro Rangaranga | Social, Cultural and Economic Committee has adopted a 10-year-Māori strategy.

Mayor Andy Foster says Tūpiki Ora establishes a new way for the community to work together and strengthen relationships.

An action plan will be developed with the community and presented back to the committee later this year.

Taranaki Whānui chair Kara Puketapu-Dentice says the strategy provides a pathway in pursuit of the well-being of the environment, culture and people.

Committee chair Jill Day says the agreed set of principles derive from Mana whenua and Māori, and will support the council to give effect to the strategy, bringing Māori values into everything
