Living wage boost will help hauora sector

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation Tōpūtanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa says an increase in the living wage will be good news for the health sector.
The Living Wage Movement, which has more than 300 employers signed up, said today the rate will increase by 90 cents to $23.65 on September 1.
NZNO kaiwhakahaere Kerri Nuku says that while nurses do get more than the living wage, the increase will flow through the sector.
“Fundamentally, this is about acknowledging there are more than just nurses and midwives in the hauora sector. There are kaimahi Māori in places that I know who are on minimum wage,” she says.
