Electorate shuffle as Census results in
The number of Māori electorates will stay at seven, but there will be one extra North Island seat as a result of the 2018 Census.
That means there will be 65 general seats and 48 list seats.
The average South Island electorate will have 65, 458 people and in the North Island it will be 64,899 people.
The Māori electorates will have on average 67,582 people.
To ensure all electorates fall within 5 percent of those quotas, about a third of electorate boundaries will need to be redrawn by the Representation Commission.
The Census estimated Māori now make up 16.5 percent of New Zealand's population, which should top 5 million some time in 2020.
