McMeeking added to university roster


A key Ngai Tahu back room advisor as been appointed to head the University of Canterbury’s School of Maori and Indigenous Studies.
Sacha McMeeking is a lawyer and former strategy manager at Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu.
She’s currently the South Island tribe’s representative on the university council, and also sits on a ministerial advisory committee looking at the reform of Maori land law.
She has previously been on ministerial advisory groups on the Resource Management Act, constitutional issues and the foreshore and seabed.
In 2010 Ms McKeeking received the first Fulbright-Harkness New Zealand Fellowship, which she used to develop tradition based values commercial decision making tools for iwi and Maori.
