The BNZ Breakers have secured one of the region’s most promising young talents, signing guard Preston Le Gassick for the upcoming NBL27 season.
The dual-national player, with an Australian father and Kiwi mother, joins the squad following standout performances both in the United States collegiate system and Australia’s NBL1 competition. His addition signals a continued focus by the Breakers on building a dynamic and high-performing roster.
Le Gassick made his mark at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida before delivering an impressive stint with the Gold Coast Rollers. In his most recent NBL1 campaign, he averaged over 21 points and nearly six assists per game, establishing himself as a strong offensive presence and playmaker.
Known for his shooting ability, Le Gassick brings efficiency and range to the Breakers’ backcourt, with a three-point shooting percentage above 38 percent. His all-round game also includes defensive intensity, contributing steals and consistent pressure on opponents.
The signing strengthens a backcourt that already includes high-profile recruit DJ Vasiljevic, giving the Breakers a potent perimeter combination heading into the new season.
Le Gassick has an existing connection within the squad, having played alongside current Breaker Reuben Te Rangi during his time with the Gold Coast Rollers. That familiarity is expected to support his transition into the team environment.
The Breakers continue to build toward the NBL27 campaign, with recruitment ongoing, including the search for a new head coach. The addition of Le Gassick reflects a strategy focused on developing emerging talent while maintaining competitiveness at the highest level.
