The schedule for Koroneihana 2025 was released last night, coinciding with the 19th anniversary of the coronation of the late Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII.
Today marks 19 years since Kiingi Tuheitia was first coronated as Arikinui, following the death of his mother, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu, in 2006.
Her memory was honoured last week at Whaataapaka Poukai, which fell on the anniversary of her passing.
Koroneihana 2025 will run from September 2 to 6 at Tūrangawaewae Marae, featuring kawe mate from Tainui and across the motu, the welcoming of ariki from Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, kapa haka and sports.
This will be the first Koroneihana held under the leadership of Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po, marking a new chapter in the Kiingitanga.
