Labour Party candidate Peeni Henare has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to tackling New Zealand’s housing crisis and supporting Māori aspirations in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate.
On Wednesday, Ngā Whare Waatea Marae will host a debate between Henare and Te Pāti Māori’s Oriini Kaipara, ahead of early voting, which begins on 25 August
Henare says that to address concerns about unaffordable housing, there needs to be productive investment to build more homes and support diverse whānau across Auckland.
“What we’d rather see is investment in business startups, capital for businesses to allow them to scale the work that they do, because we know it creates a productive economy,” says Henare.
Henare says Labour will soon announce its tax policy and remains unapologetic about advocating for Māori interests, promising action and leadership for the electorate.
