Homelessness in New Zealand, particularly among youth (rangatahi), is a growing concern, with Māori and Pacific youth disproportionately affected. Auckland is seeing a significant increase in people experiencing homelessness, with a 53% rise in those sleeping on the streets, in cars, and in parks in just four months.
Māori youth experience homelessness at a higher rate than the general population, both in terms of rough sleeping and insecure housing.
