Tairāwhiti whānau will have weekend urgent care again from this Saturday, thanks to a new service at Puhi Kaiti Medical Centre in Gisborne.
Health Minister Simeon Brown says it’s about making sure people can see a nurse or doctor when they need to — even on weekends and public holidays.
The clinic will offer walk-ins, a local phone line, and help with finding the right care.
It’s a partnership with Ngāti Porou Oranga and Te Rōpū Matua, and will help take pressure off Gisborne Hospital.
Weekday after-hours care will be added later when more staff are available.
