The Green Party contends that many New Zealanders feel the government lacks a clear climate change plan, and they aim to address this.

They proposed a plan to create green jobs, build homes, and support towns like Tokoroa, especially after the closure of the Kinleith mill.

Their initiative includes establishing a new Ministry of Green Works, collaborating with iwi and hapū, and incorporating mātauranga Māori for environmental protection.

They plan to convert forestry waste into fuel and timber for constructing 35,000 public homes, focusing on caring for the whenua and providing secure jobs for whānau.
