NZ First MP Jenny Marcroft’s bill would legislate male/men and female/women by biological sex, regardless of gender identity.
Hipkins says people should be free to live as they are, and the government should focus on real issues like the cost of living, job losses, and the health crisis.
“Yeah, I think these are the things that people want to see us focused on, not who’s allowed to use, which bathroom,” says Hipkins.
The NZ First coalition agreement with National includes two references to gender, around education guidelines and sports rules.
