Hurimoana Dennis says the progress in Māori housing since the 2018 UN call for a national strategy is inconsistent, with the current government pulling back on some initiatives. He claims there is a need for a unified approach to homelessness and comprehensive social services alongside housing. Dennis also acknowledges the positive efforts of iwi in developing housing solutions but notes there are many ongoing challenges.
