Te Kāhui Maunga named official Te Matatini page
The chairperson of Kotahitanga o Te Ātiawa says the Te Kāhui Maunga Facebook page is the official page for the organisers of this year’s Te Matatini.
Liana Poutu says multiple fake pages are being shared by delinquents across various community platforms.
Waatea Digital has identified more than 12 fraudulent pages designed to deceive people by directing them to a scam website where their personal information can be stolen.
Digital Natives Academy representative Ngātarawāhi Fairhall says while Facebook has existed since 2004, society is still in its infancy when it comes to navigating online safety, and people need to exercise caution.
Te Matatini will be broadcasted live on Whakaata Māori or TV 2 on television and Māori Plus or TVNZ+ online.
