Hundreds of shearers and wool handlers are preparing for the busiest weekend on the Shearing Sports New Zealand calendar.
Tomorrow marks the start of the Northern Southland Community Shears competition, alongside the two-day Wairoa A&P Show competition.
On Saturday, Wairoa continues while Kaikohe, Golden Bay A&P shows, and Southland Shears hold their events.
The weekend concludes with the Horowhenua A&P Show hosting its shearing competition on Sunday.
The events at Wairoa, Kaikohe, Golden Bay on Saturday, and Horowhenua will feature shearing-only competitions.
At Kaikohe, novice, junior, and intermediate shearers will compete in a merged event, with handicaps based on the number of sheep to be shorn per grade.
Shearing Sports New Zealand expects over 200 participants across this weekend’s events.
