Yesterday morning, Ngāti Ranginui blessed seven newly acquired two-bedroom homes in Greerton.
The rūnanga trust purchased the properties last December to address Tauranga’s housing crisis and create secure, connected environments for whānau.
Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Ranginui CEO Melanie Tata says the homes aim to offer whānau stability and a sense of community.
Chairman Charlie Rahiri says the project as an act of care and hope, prioritizing wellbeing over profit and symbolizing the beginning of a journey toward more housing solutions.
Applications for the homes will open soon, with the iwi committed to expanding its efforts to support its community.
