Te Waipounamu supports Toitū Te Tiriti march
Te Tai Tonga MP Takuta Ferris says the past, present, and future are why Te Waipounamu is showing its support for the Toitū Te Tiriti march.
Last week, Ferris and others began their hīkoi from Bluff to Wellington, simultaneously with the convoy heading down from Cape Reinga.
Ferris says a large contingent of South Island marchers will arrive in Wellington today, resting at Ngā Mokopuna in preparation for tomorrow.
The involvement of youth has been inspiring and uplifting, and the Government needs to heed their calls.
“Tomorrow is about celebrating e hoa. It’s about celebrating our mokopuna, celebrating our kids, our kids and our old people will be there tomorrow, and that’ll be the tone of the hikoi. We go to celebrate who te iwi Māori is, and the Kāwana is invited to come along for a proper discussion,” says Ferris.
