Potaka reflects on year in office
Māori Development Minister Tama Potaka says that after a year in office, he is proud to say the Government has made strides in tackling the three pillars of their election campaign.
This week marks a year since the 2023 elections, during which, after an extra month of negotiations, National, ACT, and NZ First formed a coalition government.
Potaka says National campaigned on getting the economy back on track, addressing law and order, and improving public services.
Although it’s been difficult, they are slowly but surely addressing each kaupapa.
“We are starting to see turns in the economy, for example, the inflation coming down, interest rates coming down, in the context where we’ve been able to affect some tax cuts and have Family Boost and other programs in place to support people, particularly those in the middle. And that affects hundreds of thousands of Maori and we’re very proud of getting the economy moving again,” says Potaka.
