Twenty shows over ten days will feature everything from indigenous to contemporary dance works, ballet and hip-hop, solo and group performances.
Festival executive lead Aaron Huata, says the theme this year is Whenua Wāhi – land and place.
“Some of the big names is New Zealand Dance Company, Royal New Zealand Ballet, and Atamira Dance Company also – which everyone would be very familiar with. So this festival this year is all celebrating culture connections and diverse story-telling through the art of movement,” he says.
Tempo Dance Festival runs from October 10 to 20 at Auckland’s Q Theatre on Queen St.
