The new ambassador for Be A Tidy Kiwi wants to bring the anti-littering campaign to the next generation of kaitiaki.

Former teacher, lawyer, radio host and Clean New Zealand founder Kiri Danielle says she grew up with the campaign, which first emerged in the 1960s.

She says most litterers are between 25 and 35 years old, so the campaign will try to get ahead of that by targeting youth.

“Litter has always been the canary in the coalmine for me. It is a very good gauge of our environment attitude. Getting the little things right for the majority of people will have a flow on effect – our green muscles will grow form there and we will care about things more and more and more,” Danielle says.

Be A Tidy Kiwi brings together the litter and packaging industries, local and central government, non government organisations, schools, sports clubs and community groups.
