Prime Minister Christopher Luxon can expect to run the gauntlet of protesters when he attends the Local Government Conference in Wellington this afternoon.

Valerie Morse from Poneke Anti-Fascist Coalition says there will be a rally outside the Cable St venue in support of Māori electoral wards.

She says Mr Luxon bears responsibility for a racist rollback of democracy because he sold his soul to ACT and NZ First to gain power.

Local Government NZ and a majority of mayors have opposed the change which requires tose, with Māori wards to put them to a referensdum at next year’s election.
