Waipareira Trust chief executive John Tamihere says this season’s flu seems particularly vigorous.
He says his organisation is gearing up to support whanau though what will be a hard winter for many.
“Whether it’s Covid or whether it’s not, it’s a very vigorous form of the flu and because of our difficult living environment our communities will be hurt by it more and the cost of living so we’re in for a very difficult winter. We have to plan for that. We have to change the narrative and the way services are provided,” Mr Tamihere says.
