Sports commentator Ken Laban says Kiwi rugby league centre Joey Manu’s switch to rugby union next year will be watched closely by new All Blacks coach Scott Robertson.
Manu, who has Māori and Cook Island whakapapa, was raised in Tokoroa before being signed by the Sydney Roosters.
Ken Laban says in his younger days know Robertson played rugby league in Te Puke and also had a stint at the Balmain Tigers … and he is still a big fan of the NRL.
“I know he’s very happy about Joseph Manu coming across to rugby union, and potential that he may have to play for the All Blacks,” he says.
Laban says Joey Manu is of a similar size to Sonny Bill Williams, and has the potential to have a similar impact on the game.
