Dr Te Piere Warahi (Ngāti Maniapoto) is 73 with a PhD, MPA (Hons 1st Class), BPA. After graduating with his doctorate from the School of Population Health at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. His research on Māori caregiving was born out of his own experience caring for his mother, which also led to him rediscovering his Māoritanga and changing his name at the age of 71.
