Jobseeker beneficiaries will have to take a job-finding seminar within two weeks of signing on under a new pathway to work programme announced this morning.
Social Development and Employment Minister Louise Upston says only about 53,000 of the 188,000 beneficiaries – or half of those on a benefit because of unemployment rather than sickness or disability – have a case manager.
She says the new Kōrero Mahi – Let’s Talk Work seminars are one way of fast tracking people into work.
