Trigger diary tip for asthma management
It’s World Asthma Day, with over 570,000 New Zealanders living with the condition.
Asthma & Respiratory Foundation chief executive Letitia Harding says Māori and Pasifika have three times higher hospitalisation rates than non-Māori and Pasifika.
She says that’s because of a combination of genetics and environment, so trigger management is key.
She suggests people make a trigger diary.
“It’s something we say you know find out what your triggers are, when it’s worse, what might be bring on your particular asthma symptoms and just have a chat to your health practitioner about that as well,” Ms Harding says.
