Red faces among blue-green backers says top Green
Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson says so-called blue-green voters may be rethinking their support for National.
She says National’s coalition with ACT and New Zealand first is taking an extreme approach to exploiting the environment for supposed economic gain.
That may be too far for National Party voters who support responsible development.
“Especially there are so-called blue-greens, I think they’re cringing a lot actually. I’m hearing from people who may even have voted perhaps for this coalition Government – and didn’t quite realise what that was going to mean,” Ms Davidson says.
A recent Roy Morgan poll shows support for ACT and New Zealand First has actually increased, with National falling away slightly.
