Former Mana Motuhake leader and cabinet minister Sandra Lee-Vercoe says the Government is ruling by decree.
She says Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s 100 day action plan and the current 36 point quarterly plan are part of a straegy to throw so many. balls in the air, the public have no time to respond to all their edicts.
The Fast Track Planning legislation going before parliament means a small group of ministers will decide critical issues like the removal of oil and gas exploration bans, overrdsing the interests of tangata whenua who stood at the barricades for years against the oil companies.
“This Government is first and foremost representing an attack on democratic parliamentary process and not a person in this country should not be concerned about that and especially for our people because of coure we have to remember, foremost, they are in the process of trying to rewrite the Treaty,” Ms Lee-Vercoe says.
She says it’s about delivering for oil and gas, industrial scale dairy farming, tobacco companies, for fat cat landlords and property developers.
The Government doesn’t care what the public, sector groups such as the disabled or fellow parliamentarians say.
She says it should be an “I told you so” moment tofor those who chose not to vote.
