Ratu challenges alcohol groups on non-delivery
A south Auckland Māori warden has challenged non-Māori organisations to return funding they’ve received in the name of reducing alcohol harm to Māori.
Rāwiri Rātu told the recent the South Alcohol Harm Reduction Conference in Dunedin Māori have good ideas how to deal with whānau impacted by alcohol, but they’re not given the support.
Instead the money has gone to non-Māori organisations who haven’t done anything with it.
Dave Rātu says a working group set up after hsi Waitangi Tribunal claim to addres fetal alcohol syndrome disorder is working well and shows what can be done.
