Damascus strike shows foreign policy risk
Greens co-leader Marama Davidson says Israel’s overnight attack on Iran’s embassy in Syria highlights the need for an independent New Zealand foreign policy.
Iran says seven military advisors including three senior commanders died when suspected Israeli warplanes destroyed the consulate next to the embassy in Damascus.
Ms Davidson says it escalates the conflict beyond Palestine at a time when the world is trying to de-escalate it.
“This is why the Greens will always highlight the importance of our independent foreign policy because this is now going to get the European nations and the Western nations up in arms, so really, really concerning,” Ms Davidson says.
