Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says his 7.5 percent target for cuts in public sector spending can be done without affecting frontline services.
He says agencies have been asked to identify savings in their backroom operations.
“We are going to protect our front line services, particularly in health and education we actually want to spend more money, but we want to make sure that every single agency understands that they are funded by tax payer money. We want them ruthlessly focused on improving outcomes,” he says.
