Union members are heading to parliament today to protests the Government’s plan to scrap fair pay legislation.
The law allows unions to bargain with employer associations for minimum employment terms for all covered employees in an industry or occupation.
Council of Trade Unions vice president Māori Syd Keepa says it’s a familiar playbook for National-led Governments.
“Looks like we are going to have three years of hard mahi for our workers on the floor with the Governemnt, and the the first thing they do is take away all the stuff that will help workers,” he says.
Mr Keepa says the unions will deliver a 15,000 signature petition supporting fair trade agreements.
