Foreign Minister Winston Peters is calling on all parties involved in the Gaza conflict – including countries with influence in the region – to take urgent steps towards a ceasefire.
Mr Peters will today ask Parliament to express grave concern at the ongoing violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor says since a ceasefire ended a week ago the death rate in Gaza has increased by 40 percent, with more than 500 Palestinians being killed every dayas Israel destroys residential areas and targets schools that house thousands of displaced individuals.
