Ground game delivers Tamaki Makaurau mandate

New Tamaki Makaurau MP Takutaimoana Natasha Kemp says winning the seat was about winning the hearts and minds of whanau.
She says she wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of Manurewa Marae, where she’s chief executive.
“We utilised our experience of being on the ground and our true manaakitanga of being Maori and showing our people that and that’s what we did and I’m so grateful for our people for believing in us and Te Pati Maori, believing in me and giving the mandate to represent Tamaki Makauraua,” she says.
Ms Kemp beat Labour’s Peeni Henare by just four votes after special votes were counted, and she’ll have to wait for the recount to be sure of holding on.
