Reggae shimmer over te reo dream

Young Tauranga band Mirage is using reggae as a way to keep te reo a part of their lives.
The three-piece has just released its first single, He whakakitenga mou.
Lead singer Ben Horlock says it’s a meditation on moving on from school friends – and what can be done with his new bandmates Jahvyn Douglas and Benji Seiuli.
“Meeting with Jahvyn is an awesome opportunity for me to further my journey with learning te reo Māori and him being there as a helping hand is so wicked so we can all collaborate on that. I really like how we are pushing the reo through the music and it’s a great way for me to learn and hopefully for other people to potentially learn through music,” he says.
