Nurses eye wage progress

The Nurses Organisation says a change in Government won’t stop the fight for fair pay for all nurses.
Kaiwhakahaere Kerri Nuku says there’s a sense of nervousness that as Labour’s health reforms are just starting to take shape, they face another round of change and cuts.
She says while considerable advances were made in the pay equity settlement for nurses working within Te Whatu Ora Health new Zealand, it was a work in progress.
“All nurses everywhere need to get paid and recognised for the services they provide across all sectors, not bust the Te Whatu Ora Space. That includes aged care, non-Te Whatu Ora primary care, public sector and private sector,” Ms Nuku says.
Nurses need to stay in control of their role in the face of the increased use of artificial intelligence, and healthcare workers have to be part of health workforce planning.
