2023 Silver Scrolls Maioha Award winner MOHI says he’s proud to wave the Māori flag at SXSW Sydney.
He’s part of a delegation of Māori musicians attending the industry showcase, which is a spin off from the giant South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
MOHI says the Māori music industry is always ready to come together for the right kaupapa.
“I think at the end of the day, we’re all for one common cause and that’s to whakatauranga our reo Māori our Māori world. And the fact that we’re over here, a bunch of Māori from Tāmaki Makaurau. That’s pretty awesome. So it’s all win win,” he says.
