Unions are racing to confirm pay equity settlements before the election, with Public Service Association and the Association of Professional and Executive Employees reaching agreement of a proposed deal for Te Whatu Ora allied, scientific, and technical employees working for Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand.
Health Minister Ayesha Verrall says if accepted it will boost the pay of around 18,000 workers by about 20 percent backdated to November 2022, with a $10,000 lump sum.
She says the workforce is an integral part of the health system and includes professions such anaesthetic technician, physiotherapists, laboratory scientists and social workers.
It’s the third pay equity settlement reached since the beginning of the year after midwives and nurses, and there is the potential one further will be reached over the next fortnight.
