Coach praised for getting Warriors to Brisbane

Download AudioLeague legend Wairangi Koopu is crediting coach Andrew Wester and a greatly-improved team spirit for how far the Warriors have come this year.
The Auckland-based side takes on the Brisbane Broncos in Brisbane tomorrow for a spot in the NRL grand final.
Koopu, who came off the bench for the Warrior’s 2002 NRL Grand Final loss to the Sydney Roosters, says Webster’s initiative and attitude reminds him of how then coach Daniel Anderson inspired the team.
“It is a complete buy in from the boys. So it’s not just a style of coaching in the way that he’s going about things this year, but it’s also how the boys have bought into it. And how they want to be their best for him, so it’s a great thing to see,” he says.
Koopu says the team have also embraced the club’s connection to Māori and Pasifika culture, while ensuring inclusivity for all players.
Kick off at Suncorp Stadium is at 10pm.
