Coffey grinding hard for East Coast win

With 33 days left until the election, candidates are campaigning hard for your vote.
Tamati Coffey, who’s proclaiming himself a rejuvenated politician, says he’s doing all he can to retain East Coast for Labour.
National is keen to take back the seat it lost to Kiritapu Allen, and has put up a strong candidate in Gisborne local Dana Kirkpatrick.
But Mr Coffey says nothing can be taken for granted and half the voters on the roll are Maori.
“I’m on the trail talking about what we’ve done, talking about what we’re promising. Things like free dental. Things like GST off fruit and vegetables. Things like keeping the five dollars off the prescription fees. All a series of things that we can do to help alleviate that cost of living,” he says.
Tamati Coffey says he hopes to continue the great work done by Kiri Allan – who won the seat in 2020 by more than 6000 votes.
