Greenpeace climate protest disrupts last day of parliament
Parliament was disrupted for about 5 minutes yesterday afternoon by a climate protest from four Greenpeace members.
As Climate Minister James Shaw was answering a question about the Government’s climate change achievements during the term, the group unfurled banners from the public gallery emblazoned with ‘Too many cows’ and ‘Climate election now’.
Speaker Adrian Rurawhe ordered security to remove them ināianei.
The rangatahi, who had smuggled the banners into the gallery underneath their clothing, left without resistance.
They were banned from Parliament for two years.
