FIFA funds for foodbank

South Auckland community leader Dave Letele – says his weekend dash across the Tasman to hob-nob with FIFA world soccer president Infantino Gianni was a chance to get more exposure and support for his Buttabean Motivation charity.
Mr Gianni made a $50-thousand dollar, which Mr Letele says will go straight into its over-stretched foodbank.
He says some people see the media exposure as being about him – but it’s simply not the case.
“Anyone who’s just seeing us in the media – and has an issue with it – is not actually listening to what I’m saying – because I’m always talking about our people, never about us. So long as our people are at the centre of our hearts – that’s our ‘why’ – we can never go wrong,” Mr Letele says.
He says unaffordability of basic needs is looming as the number one election issue for his communities.
