Singer Majic Paora says her new EP is a shout-out for her hapu.
She enlisted Huia and Joe Pihema from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to help with te reo MĀori lyrics on Whatutoto- Songs from The Heart, incorporating Whātua sayings and korero.
She says it was a way to give back on her return home to Tāmaki Makaurau with her whanau.
“My goal is to make Ngāti Whātua an entity within the music industry. I really believe there are absolute some very talented people in all iwi but Ngāti Whātua especially” Majic says.
