Intergrated maternity care plan set to spread

Turuki Healthcare chief executive Te Puia Winiata says a new integrated approach to maternity and early childhood care could be a game changer.
The Mangere-based centres is one of 40 Maori and five Pasifika providers who will be part of the $74 million Kahu Taurima programme, allowing them to provide wrap-around support for whānau during antenatal, birthing, postnatal and child development care.
Ms Winiata says now the funding is approved Turuki will look for more partners.
“We’re working from Mangere but it doesn’t mean to say our strategy and service design won’t impact on other parts of south Auckland,” she says.
